The Prairie Trails Museum of Wayne County in Corydon, IA, is hosting a ribbon cutting for their new mastodon exhibit during their Fall Pioneer Festival on September 26. The ribbon cutting is at noon, but festivities start at 10am.

Dolly, the mastodon, was excavated by the Office of the State Archaeologist (OSA) and community volunteers in 2024 and has spent the last two years undergoing cleaning and curation at OSA. The new exhibit will feature the 13,600 year old mastodon skull with tusk and several other skeletal elements. OSA staff will be in attendance along with UI paleontologists during the ribbon cutting to answer questions. See complete event details here.
