Biography
I am an Assistant Professor in the School of Earth, Environment, and Sustainability at the University of Iowa, where I lead the SHIP (Sustainability, Hydrogeophysics, Imaging, & Prediction) Lab. My research integrates sustainability principles with advanced geophysics, numerical modeling, and machine learning to study subsurface processes, ecosystem dynamics, and resource distribution. I focus on three areas: 4D geophysical imaging with novel inversion algorithms, geophysics-informed hydrologic modeling, and AI-driven Earth system solutions, with applications in water security, geological hydrogen exploration, critical minerals, environmental monitoring, and ecosystem studies.
I teach environmental geophysics and Computing in Earth and Environmental Science, where students gain hands-on experience with field methods, advanced data processing, and computational tools. My goal is to provide training that bridges classroom learning with real-world applications, preparing students to tackle pressing environmental and sustainability challenges.
