Heather Sander and her Maynooth University colleagues, Dr Conor Meade and Dr Zerrin Doğança Küçük, received a €180,067 (~US$210,000) Research Ireland Discover Grant. This funding will support a community-engaged urban wildlife research program,  WILDCITY: Wildlife Inquiry & Learning for Discovery in Cities Involving Teens & Youth. WILDCITY will engage Junior Cycle (middle school) students in urban wildlife monitoring, research, and management in the Dublin metropolitan area of Ireland, helping to build understanding of urban wildlife in Dublin and of the contribution of engaged research projects to student learning in science and ecology.
