Join ICIGO today!
ICIGO is a student organization within the School of Earth, Environment, and Sustainability that utilizes experiences and skills gained in the classroom to support projects focused on sustainability in the community and state.
ICIGO welcomes new members with a background, or interest, in GIS, analytics, leadership, organization, and visualization. The group requires 2-3 hours of participation a week and participation in regular meetings. You may register for one semester hour of credit of SEES:3992 Undergraduate Research as part of your semester long project.
If you're interested in joining ICIGO, e-mail GIS Administrator, Adam Skibbe. Please identify your year and major, as well as any experience you might have with GIS or other relevant research/classwork. Anyone who is interested and willing to commit a few hours to a project is encouraged to join.

Wind patterns in the state of Iowa were mapped for use by I-Renew in order to more accurately advise residents about the applicability of wind power in their area.

We encourage non-governmental organizations, city and state agencies, and student organizations to contact us if you have ideas for projects related to spatial analyses, mapping, or visualization to support the community and promote sustainability. Examples of past and current projects include mapping campus-wide sustainability efforts, mapping and visualization of local and organic producers, merchants and markets, visualization of campus health activities, and more.
